I have always struggled with the military as I have bad attitude to hierarchy and can't stop myself questioning everything. This is one of my failings. I do however understand its necessity. I have the up most respect for anyone who serves and the brutal experience many go through. I am also aware that this experience breaks some and makes some. The job you do in conveying these stories is invaluable. The stories for most are unimaginable and its important for people to recognise the serisouse of the situations that occur in a military environment. I also think that many outside the military could learn from the humility and lack of ego by people who have done brave acts.

I at 43 struggle with what they spoke about around 16 minutes. The wife makes sure we have physical pictures up around the house, but we do not have a photo album any longer. I have mine from growing up as does my wife, but our children do not. We take so many photos and videos now that a life is almost entirely captured. I make sure to not take to many photos and just enjoy life. Maybe I should actually create a photo album of key moments.

I did a tour down there shortly after the war travelling back to UK on Uganda and we still used to get the odd Argentinian aircraft get too near the islands to be chased off by our Phantoms! We had to 'crash out' several times to disperse our Chinooks to safe locations flying in the dark with NVG's on no lights! I loved the place, it was how England 'used to be'. We were based at Kellys Garden at San Carlos. We go to see the amazing people and the scenery. There is a 5 mile long white beach called 'Paloma Beach' was home for the Emporer Penguins. Im glad we took it back and basically if they try to take it again......guess what......we will be ready.

I was there a couple of decades ago. Basically Wales with more geese and even less to do. Hard though that last point may be to believe.

Hi, a large chopper flown to a lone unit under attack that has had NO SUPPLIES, what was the staff back at base thinking? At the very least they could have scrounged water, rations and munitions and volunteers from around the base, surely? There was so much that could have been done that some heads had to be cut loose! Shame on them! Thats not the Para way of looking after your mates! As an ex C Coy 3 Para from the sixties I am dumbfounded. Cheers mate. Harera

This feels so calm! I’d happily live in this type of home… I’d love to have no tv and live by candle light etc. Not for ever but I do think it would be a fantastic change of pace for a couple of months.
